I was listening to a story on NPR a couple days ago about Mount Everest and how the Chinese government has shut it down; there are several climbers whose ascents are halted, and they can't even attempt continuing their climb because China has given troops "shoot to kill" orders. They don't want anyone carrying a Tibetan flag showing up on camera. Or ending up near the torch-bearer.
Does anyone else see just how wrong this all is? The Olympics are supposed to be about peace, and nations coming together in good sportsmanship. They're not supposed to murder dissenters right under the watchful eye of the entire world, who seems to be sitting back and just watching it unfold.
Anyway, sorry for blathering.
