..... because it looks as though Hillary will go to any lengths - nuclear, rewriting the rules, virulent criticism, and those latter two are against her 'own side'.

Wondering how the voting will go today and hoping against hope that sinking to the depths won't win the day...indeed, win the race. Is the brutal reality that, in order to be electable, you have to become the sort of person I couldn't bring myself to vote for? (This is theoretical in this instance, for me, in that I'm not American.) I've been so enthused by the vision of hope and freshness that Barack Obama seems to hold out...will that be enough? Or am I just being naïve?

I think Hillary is trying to pick up any disaffected Republicans who can't stomach the idea of McCain. That's what all the war threats are about. If she doesn't sway sufficient numbers of them, who tend to quite strongly vote along party lines in the end, her back-up strategy is to shoot her own party.

As an outside observer I think the American people will eventually see through her before the vote that counts. If they don't, they will later when if she gains office and reneges on everything important she said. So, I'm predicting she'll either lose or be a lame-duck president.

...well she's hanging on by a thread at the moment....
