...and funds so that children growing up in New York City’s toughest neighborhoods can experience the joys of Fresh Air vacations - these are for children, 6 to 12 years old, who reside in low-income communities in New York City and are eager to experience the simple pleasures of life outside the city.

The hall is piled with bags and boxes. Am I moving permanently? You'd think so. No, it's clothing (for all weathers from sun to the snow that is forecast for this weekend), walking boots and wellies, bedding, human food, bird food, camera, soon to be followed by 'puter - all for a week at the lodge. I'm driving across to Cumbria this afternoon, to be joined tomorrow evening by my daughter and these gorgeous granddaughters (without guinea pigs, I assume)

....to go to Center Parcs in the morning. I'm meeting my son, Simon, and his girls Freja and Ella, at the nearest train station - we'll be sharing a lodge. My daughter Rachel, her husband mark and their girls Isabel and Lucy will be in the next lodge and two other families we know will be staying nearby.

I'm so looking forward to seeing them all again, needless to say.

Simon and I will be taking our Apples and our Nikons and will be laughed at by everyone else - but we don't care - we'll have fun.

Looking forward to playing with this and the D80 at Center Parcs - Simon is bringing his D50 and we are both taking the Macs. We're going to be taking snaps of the girls for his dad's birthday to put in one of those digital frame things.

STRESS
I am not sure exactly how it works, but this is amazingly accurate. Read the full description before looking at the picture.

The picture below has 2 identical dolphins in it. It was used in a case study on stress levels at St. *****'s Hospital.

Look at both dolphins jumping out of the water. The dolphins are identical. A closely monitored, scientific study revealed that , in spite of the fact that the dolphins are identical , a person under stress would find differences in the two dolphins.

The more differences a person finds between the dolphins, the more stress that person is experiencing.

Look at the photograph and if you find more than one or two differences you may want to take a vacation.

1. What's your favorite vacation (we Brits call it holiday) destination? Here are three for different occasions - and I love them all: Kephalonia - we've been nine times. We usually go at the end of August/beginning of September.
   
2. The Lake District. For any time at all - I never need persuading.
   
3. And we went to the Seychelles for our honeymoon - it was just as gorgeous as it looks in photographs.
   

Possibly this would be a bad idea, don't you think?  And this guy is intelligent enough to have a university place?

Take a photo of something striped.

This African dress was given to me many years ago and I never worn it.  Then it came to mind a couple of weeks ago and I rumaged in the bottom of my wardrobe - perfect as a cover-up on holiday - we're off to Kephalonia again next Sunday.
PS I'm not sure why it's come out sideways - I took it this way and rotated it in iPhoto. Not sure how to rotate in Vox posts - so just lie down to view it

African dress

British Airways said today that as many as 20,000 bags had gone astray at Heathrow airport in recent days amid the chaos following the security crackdown. BA said most of the bags had been reunited with owners but around 5,000 still had to be returned....... it has also emerged that there has been a spike in the number of thefts from baggage holds at some airports :: link

I'm going to cut right down. Yes, I always say this but this time there'll be no choice. There are always clothes I don't wear. I'm looking for a small enough bag for hand luggage - 35 x 25 x 15 cm is really small. Time to go through my list on my Palm and see what can stay at home.

......we were still in beautiful Kephalonia. We had an extended trip, due to a storm and an accident. On the right are photos of Katelios - our fourth visit and seventh time on the island - taken prior to Peter's fall.

Moral: Be careful what you wish for - you may get it - and if you are going to wish, maybe it's a good idea to put in some conditions

Hint: Never run on wet tiles!
